Carriers without IFTA licenses operating qualified vehicles into South Dakota using diesel or LPG may obtain 72-hour fuel trip permits to operate legally in South Dakota. No fuel permit is required for gasoline-powered qualified vehicles.
Fuel trip permits are valid for a single trip and expire at the end of 72 hours or upon leaving the state, whichever comes first.
Fuel trip permits are obtained at ports of entry or through various services such as J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. at (800) 231-5266.
