Non-IFTA carriers operating qualified vehicles into New Jersey may obtain a fuel trip permits in lieu of an IFTA license and decals. A 96-hour trip fuel permit available. A trip permit is issued to a user whose vehicle(s) in the aggregate makes not more than six trips into or through New Jersey in a 12-month period.
Trip permits are obtained by mail or through various permit services such as J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. at (800) 231-5266.
Atlantic City requirements for motorcoaches
All owners or operators of motorcoaches entering Atlantic City, NJ must have a current motorbus permit. The permits which are issued by the South Jersey Transportation Authority cost $2 each and are valid for one entry only. There is a minimum of 10 permits per order, and depending on the number of permits ordered, there is a process and handling fee added as follows:
| If ordering up to 50 Permits — add $3.00. |
| 51 to 100 Permits — add $5.00. |
| 101 to 500 Permits — add $10.00. |
| 501 to 1,000 Permits — add $20.00. |
| Each additional 1,000 Permits — add $20.00. |
Permits may be ordered either by mail, or picked up in person at the South Jersey Transportation Authority Office, 25 So. New York Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. They may only be picked up between the hours from 10 a.m. until noon, and from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. For additional information, please call (609) 348-4676.
Depending on which hotel(s) motorcoaches are going to stop and unload passengers at, the carrier should contact the hotels for pamphlets showing proper routes to and from each hotel. Fines may be assessed if coaches do not follow set routes.
