Carriers operating IFTA qualified vehicles without an IFTA license and decals must obtain a three-day trip permit to operate into Maine; the permit must be in the vehicle when the vehicle is operated on Maine highways. Application for the permit may be made on an application form obtained from the Motor Carrier Division by fax, or through various permit services such as J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. at (800) 231-5266. An application for a three-day permit does not serve as an application for a Maine Use Fuel Tax License.
Fees
$50 per each three-day fuel permit
$75 for combo IFTA/IRP trip permit
