Intrastate
Intrastate household goods permit is required prior to transporting household goods in the state; applications are made to the Motor Vehicle Department and must be accompanied by a $100 fee. The application for the permit must contain proof of registration with the Secretary of State and either proof of workers compensation insurance coverage or an affidavit of non-employment. Applicants must also obtain public liability insurance and file the insurance policy with the Department.
The annual filing fee for maintaining a household goods carrier permit is $35 and carriers must provide proof that their public liability insurance policy is in full effect on an annual basis.
Insurance: Intrastate: Household goods: $500,000 BI and PD; and $10,000 cargo insurance. Form E and Form H required.

North Dakota is a participating member of the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA). Online registration and fee payment is recommended and available to all carriers at the national UCRA website at ucr.gov.
