Intrastate
There are no requirements for intrastate for-hire carriers operating in Maine to obtain operating authority.
Interstate
Maine is a participating member of the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA). Online registration and fee payment is recommended and available to all carriers at the national UCRA website at ucr.gov.
Refer to Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA) for the current fee schedule.
Note: Non-Hazardous Transporter Program — Transporters of non-hazardous waste are required to obtain a license from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The requirement affects all transporters carrying non-hazardous waste into, out of, and within the state of Maine. Some exemptions apply. Contact the DEP at (207) 287-2651 for more information.
