Intrastate
Alaska does not require for-hire intrastate operating authority. Insurance must be filed with Measurement Standards & Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (MS/CVE).
Agency: Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, MS/CVE; see Regulatory Agencies for address(es).
Insurance: Intrastate for-hire carriers with vehicles weighing over 10,000 pounds unladen weight must provide proof of insurance in the amounts of $500,000 for bodily injury and $200,000 for property damage per occurrence, or $700,000 CSL.
Interstate
Alaska is a participating member of the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA). Online registration and fee payment is recommended and available to all carriers at the national UCRA website at www.ucr.in.gov.
