Yes, November 19, 2018, is the date when employers must begin equipping new fixed ladders 24 feet or more above a lower level with a ladder safety system or personal fall arrest system. If an employer replaces existing fixed ladders or sections of them after that date, one of those systems must be installed with the upgrade. By November 18, 2036, all fixed ladders over 24 feet must be equipped with a personal fall arrest system or a ladder safety system.
