Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
Employers are not required by federal law to give former employees their final paycheck immediately. Some states, however, may require immediate payment or payment within a specific time period.
New Hampshire Revised Statute §275:44 requires that for involuntary termination the final paycheck is due within 72 hours. For voluntary termination the final paycheck is due on the next regular payday or within 72 hours if notice is given one pay period before.
