Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
Employers are not required by federal law to give former employees their final paycheck immediately. Some states, however, may require immediate payment or payment within a specific time period.
Nebraska Revised Statute §48-1230 requires that for involuntary termination the final paycheck is due on the next regular payday or within two weeks of the date of termination, whichever is sooner.
There are no requirements for voluntary termination.
