Intrastate

Intrastate carriers of “exempt” commodities in Illinois are included within the category of intrastate for-hire carriage and regulated accordingly. (Refer to For-hire Carrier Authority).

Insurance: Intrastate (non-hazardous): $750,000 PL and PD. Cargo Insurance – $5,000 if transporting unprocessed agricultural commodities, milk in bulk, commodities in dump-type vehicles, or ordinary livestock carried on each vehicle at any one time. If transporting commodities other than those listed here, $5,000 for loss or damage to cargo carried on any one motor vehicle, $10,000 for loss or damage to cargo or aggregate loss or damage to cargo occurring at any one time. Form E and Form H required.

Interstate

Illinois is a participating member of the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement (UCRA). Online registration and fee payment is recommended and available to all carriers at the national UCRA website at https://www.ucr.gov/.
