Alabama is under federal OSHA jurisdiction which covers most private sector workers within the state. State and local government workers are not covered by federal OSHA.

Underground facilities

Excavators in Alabama must notify the state’s One-Call Notification System prior to beginning excavation. The system will notify operators of underground facilities to locate and mark their facilities to prevent damage, interruption of utility service, or injury to excavation workers. The rules are found in Code of Ala. §§ 37-15-1 — 37-15-11.
