Oregon does not mandate ISO 14001. Businesses can voluntarily adopt it to strengthen their environmental management practices and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.
Oregon’s Toxics Use Reduction and Hazardous Waste Reduction (TUHWR) program allows businesses to develop either a reduction plan or an ISO 14001 certified (or equivalent) Environmental Management System (EMS). This means companies can choose to implement an EMS aligned with ISO 14001 to meet their environmental obligations under this program.
