Hawaii incorporates by reference most of the July 1, 2017, edition of the federal OSHA construction requirements for electrical safety; therefore, the state requirements are identical to the federal requirements, except for some definitions found in HAR 12-110-50.
Any new federal OSHA final rule that impacts construction-related electrical safety requirements and that took or takes effect after July 1, 2017, will not be effective until the state takes action. For example, currently, the following federal OSHA final rule is not effective in Hawaii — OSHA Standards and Regulations; Corrections, dated February 18, 2020.
