Wisconsin has adopted Part 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), with the exception of 391.11(b)(1) and 391.41(b)(10) (in certain situations) for intrastate drivers.
Part 391 applies to drivers who operate motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 26,000 pounds, and drivers operating vehicles of any size transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.

| Physical Exam - Motor Carrier | Physical exam and certificate required Grandfather provision applies to intrastate drivers who have met state medical qualifications and have been issued a valid Wisconsin commercial driver’s license or CDL prior to 7/29/96, which has not been revoked or cancelled, and who continue to meet state medical requirements as found in Trans 112. A driver may apply (with the Department of Transportation) for a vision exemption. |
