Tennessee has adopted Part 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) with some modifications.
Part 391 applies to commercial motor vehicles operated in intrastate commerce to transport property that have a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or a motor vehicle of any gross vehicle weight transporting hazardous materials.
| Age | 21-years old Exception: A driver may obtain a Class A or B license at 19-years old if:- No special endorsements are required,
- The vehicle is operated within 100 miles of the job, and
- The driver is solely intrastate.
A driver may obtain a Class B license at 18-years old if the above conditions are met. |
