Nebraska has adopted Part 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), as they existed on January 1, 2026.
Part 391 applies to drivers who are operating a commercial motor vehicle as defined in 60-465 that requires a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Exception: Part 391 does not apply to drivers of farm trucks registered pursuant to 60-3, 146 and operated solely in intrastate commerce.

| Driving Records | For single record requests an “Application for Copy of Driving Record” form must be completed. For requests of more than one record an “Application for Multiple Driving Records” must be completed. Forms are available through DMV or can be downloaded from the DMV website: https://roar-assets-auto.rbl.ms/documents/15270/drvrecapp.pdf. Driving records are also available online at: https://dmv.nebraska.gov/services. The fee is $15.00 per record. |
| Physical Exam - Motor Carrier | Physical exam and certificate required The provisions of Part 391 Subpart E, Physical Qualifications and Examinations, do not apply to any driver who operates a commercial motor vehicle exclusively in intrastate commerce and holds a commercial driver’s license issued prior to July 30, 1996. Exception: Part 391, Subpart E does not apply to the operation of a covered farm vehicle. |
