Driver qualification files - Prince Edward Island

Carriers are responsible for keeping records on drivers operating under the carrier’s safety fitness certificate. Drivers operating under the safety fitness certificate can include regular employees and leased operators. The following records are required:

• Driver’s employment application;
• Annual certified abstract of the driver’s operating record;
• The class of license held by the driver;
• The medical examintion expiration date;
• The training and special qualifications of the driver, with expiration dates;
• Summary or indictable convictions for driving offences or Criminal Code (Canada) driving offences for each commercial vehicle driver; and
• All traffic accidents in which the driver was involved.
