Wyoming follows the federal Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs).
- PFOA: 4 parts per trillion (ppt)
- PFOS: 4 ppt
Wyoming has no state-specific PFAS drinking water requirements. The state doesn’t have primacy required to enforce federal drinking water requirements (except for operator certification and capacity development programs). EPA Region 8 enforces the drinking water program.
The state provides a monitoring assistance program to collect and test drinking water samples for PFAS from:
- Community water systems and non-transient non-community water systems regulated under federal regulations,
- Public water systems not regulated under federal regulations, and
- Private wells in proximity to known or suspected sources of PFAS.
