Iowa has no state-specific PFAS drinking water requirements.
Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources has developed an action plan to protect residents from PFAS. This includes Water Supply Protocol for Per- and Poly FluoroAlkyl Substances (PFAS) Detection, which states that the Department of Natural Resources will require a public water system that detects a PFAS compound with a health advisory (HA) to conduct monitoring and notify the public if certain levels are exceeded.
