Nevada adopted 390.21 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), and subsequent revisions.
Section 390.21 applies to intrastate vehicles with a gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, or gross combination weight of 26,001 or more pounds or any vehicle transporting hazardous materials as defined in NRS 459.7024.
| Additional Requirements | Common or contract motor carriers operating in intrastate commerce must have the name of the carrier operating the vehicle displayed on each side of the power unit. Common or contract motor carriers operating under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Services Authority must have the symbols “CPCN” and the number of the certificate, (or the symbols “MV” and the number of the permit if operating under a permit for a contract motor carrier) displayed on each side of the power unit. Private carriers operating vehicles in intrastate commerce with an unladen weight ≥ 10,001 lbs. must have the name of the carrier operating the vehicle displayed on each side of the power unit. A lessee operating a power unit pursuant to a short-term or long-term lease shall have his name and number painted or affixed on the vehicle. All information must be displayed in letters not less than 2 ins. high in sharply contrasting colors which are legible from a distance of at least 50 ft. Any removable sign or placard must be made of a durable material such as wood, plastic, or metal. Each device must bear a serial number in the carrier’s own series, and the carrier must keep a proper record of each number. |
