Nebraska has adopted 390.21 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), as they existed on January 1, 2025.
Section 390.21 applies to all intrastate motor carriers and all vehicles of intrastate motor carriers with a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight over 10,000 pounds, and to all intrastate motor carriers operating vehicles transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
All commercial vehicles operating solely in intrastate transportation must display their USDOT number followed by “NE” on all vehicles.
Example: US DOT 123456 NE
Exception: Section 390.21 does not apply to farm trucks and farm truck-tractors registered pursuant to 60-3, 146 and operated solely in intrastate commerce.
