OSHA does not have a specific policy on the wearing of open-toe shoes in the office environment or retail operation. When employees work in areas where there is a possibility of foot injuries due to falling or rolling objects, objects piercing the sole, or the feet may be exposed to an electrical hazard, then protective footwear is required.
