Do dockboards have to have bumpers or run-off protection?

Dockboards put into initial service or after January 17, 2017, are required to have side run-off protection unless the employer can demonstrate that there is no likelihood of the transfer vehicle running off the sides of the dockboard. See 1910.26. This applies regardless of the height of the dockboard.
