Direct deposit provisions - Utah
Utah law allows private employers to pay by electronic transfer. Employees may refuse direct deposit by filing a written request with the employer unless both of these are true:
- The employer’s federal employment tax deposits in the prior calendar year were $250,000 or more; and
- At least two-thirds of the employer’s employees have wages deposited by electronic transfer.
For state employees, direct deposit is the primary method of wage payment. Exceptions may be made for employees who do not or cannot provide a direct deposit account.
