State law in New Mexico allows for direct deposit and other methods of electronic payment, but employees must give authorization in writing.
For state employees, payment via direct deposit is the default, although the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) must allow exemptions. Upon hire, state employees must submit either a declination form or a direct deposit authorization form.
