Direct deposit provisions - Nebraska
Nebraska’s state wage payment law neither prohibits nor explicitly allows private employers to mandate direct deposit for paying wages (although payroll cards are discussed in the Nebraska Wage Payment and Collection Act, which implies other methods of electronic payment are permitted). The Nebraska Dept. of Labor has stated that an employer is permitted to mandate direct deposit as long as federal rules are followed.
For the public sector, employees of the state are required, by state law and administrative policy, to be paid via electronic funds transfer, either via direct deposit or to a state-authorized debit card.
