In Idaho, private sector employers are allowed to offer direct deposit, but they may not require it without authorization from employees.

For state employees, the State Controller’s Office policy explicitly requires all employees paid by the SCO to use direct deposit to receive their wages. Exemptions are granted only for employees who provide evidence of inability to obtain an account at an eligible financial institution.
