Direct deposit provisions - Hawaii
In Hawaii, employers in both the private and the public sectors may offer direct deposit of wages, but they cannot mandate it. Specifics of the law regarding direct deposit include:
- The employee must provide written or electronic consent;
- The employee may cancel the direct deposit at any time with reasonable notice;
- The employer must provide a pay statement as stipulated in the statutes;
- No employee shall be required to pay any costs or fees for the direct deposit of wages; and
- No employee may be disciplined or otherwise penalized for authorizing or refusing to authorize the direct deposit of wages.
