In Delaware, private employers are allowed to offer direct deposit, but they may not mandate it. Direct deposit is permitted only upon written request of the employee.
For state employees, direct deposit is the default method of wage payment. The state Secretary of Finance may make an exception for any state employee upon request by the head of an agency or school district.
