Arkansas allows private employers to pay employees via direct deposit, but employees may opt out by providing a written statement requesting payment by check.

For public employers, state agency employees hired after August 2005 are required to receive their wages via direct deposit. The state may grant exemptions for employees for whom direct deposit would be a hardship, or upon any other reasonable basis.
