Virginia follows the federal Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs).
- PFOA: 4 parts per trillion (ppt)
- PFOS: 4 ppt
Virgina requires the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to transfer all validated monitoring results exceeding federal MCL levels to the Department of Quality (DEQ) to develop source assessments for each public drinking water system and may require self-reporting or monitoring for PFAS by certain facilities.
