South Carolina has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations.
Part 392 applies to a commercial motor vehicle and its driver, operating in intrastate commerce with a gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating equal to or exceeding 26,001 pounds, or a commercial motor vehicle and its driver, transporting hazardous materials required to be placarded.
A commercial diesel vehicle licensed for use on a public roadway to transport property or passengers with a gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more may not idle for more than 10 minutes in any 60-minute period.
A passenger bus (designed to carry 16 or more passengers) may idle up to 15 minutes in a 60-minute period to provide heating or air conditioning when passengers are on the vehicle.
