Pennsylvania has state-specific Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) and MCL goals for PFAS in drinking water.
The MCLs are:
- PFOA: 14 parts per trillion (ppt)
- PFOS: 18 ppt
Although the standards apply to all public water systems, monitoring requirements apply to community water systems; nontransient noncommunity water systems; and bottled, vended, retail, and bulk systems.
Pennsylvania must adopt MCLs at least as stringent as the federal MCLs.
- PFOA: 4 parts per trillion (ppt)
- PFOS: 4 ppt
