Oklahoma’s Medical Provider Protection Act extends previous protections against assault and battery of emergency room workers to all medical care providers and increases penalties for violent acts. The Act added new provisions that require every hospital, health clinic, and ambulance service to post signs warning that assaulting a health care worker is a serious crime. It requires all hospitals, health clinics, and ambulance services to report assaults on medical providers to the state Department of Health on an annual basis.
