New Mexico does not have a state law mandating private-sector employers to reimburse employee expenses. State employees and officials can by law receive a per diem and mileage reimbursement when using a personal vehicle for official business. State employees can be reimbursed for actual travel expenses in lieu of a per diem with written approval from an agency head.
