Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation has adopted the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Parts 373, 375, 377, 378, 379, 382, 383, 385, 386 Subpart F, 387, 390-399, and Appendix G to subchapter B of Chapter III, Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations, with some modifications. The adoption includes amendments as updated through April 25, 2024. The adoption is effective June 22, 2024.
Applicability
The safety regulations apply to intrastate operation of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 26,001 or more pounds or vehicles used to transport hazardous materials of a type or quantity that require the vehicle to be placarded.
