In August 2020, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) established Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) for seven PFAS compounds under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act, including PFOA and PFOS.

PFOA: 8 parts per trillion (ppt)
PFOS: 16 ppt

Starting in June 2029, public water supplies must follow the stricter federal MCLs for PFOA and PFOS.

PFOA: 4 parts per trillion (ppt)
PFOS: 4 ppt
