Maine law requires hospitals to adopt and maintain safety and security plans to protect patients, visitors, and employees. Each plan must be reviewed on an annual basis. Plans must include a process for hospitals to receive reports and record incidents and threats of violent behavior that occur at or arise out of employment at the hospital. Under the plan, no employee or representative may interfere with a person making a report as provided in the plan.
