Georgia is under federal OSHA jurisdiction which covers most private sector workers within the state. State and local government workers are not covered by federal OSHA.
Underground facilities
The Georgia Underground Facility Protection Act (GUFPA), commonly known as the Georgia Dig Law, allows excavators to provide notice of intent to excavate to a Utilities Protection Center formed by the owners and operators of underground facilities. The center then gives notice to the owners and operator so that they can locate and mark their undergound facilities to prevent damage or injury to workers. The rules are contained in O.C.G.A. § 25-9-1 -- 25-9-14.
