California law requires private employers to reimburse employees for necessary business expenses that are incurred during the course of employment, including those related to remote work (such as internet access and phone bills).
State employees in California may also be eligible for reimbursement of authorized expenses related to conducting state business. This can include mileage reimbursement, lodging and meals related to business travel, and more.
