Alaska has adopted Part 393 of the Federal Regulations.
Applicability
Part 393 applies to a self-propelled or towed vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 14,000 pounds or more, or is used to transport hazardous materials.
Mudflaps
All trucks must be equipped with anti-spray devices not more than 14 inches off the ground.
Tire chains
It is permissible to use tire chains because of snow, ice, or other conditions which may cause a vehicle to skid.
