In Utah, an individual may not use a phone while operating a vehicle on a highway to manually:
- Dial a phone number,
- Access the internet,
- Record video,
- Take a photograph,
- Enter data, or
- View a video or photograph.
This prohibition does not apply to:
- Communication with law enforcement or other emergency services;
- Use by law enforcement and emergency personnel;
- Use of the phone for voice communication;
- Viewing a global positioning or navigation application; or
- Operation of:
- Hands-free or voice operated technology, or
- A system that is physically or electronically integrated into the motor vehicle.
