Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
Indiana has continuation coverage under the state’s Small Employer Group Health Insurance. Some of the provisions include the following:
Employee must have been employed by the same small employer for at least one year, and covered under a health insurance plan for at least 90 days.
Qualifying events follow federal COBRA, and include termination of the eligible employee's employment, reduction of the eligible employee's hours, dissolution of marriage; or attainment of any age specified in the plan.
Continuation coverage lasts for up to 12 months.
