CMV parts and maintenance - West Virginia
West Virginia has adopted Part 393 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), as in effect on January 13, 2022.
Part 393 applies to any self-propelled or towed motor vehicle used on a highway in intrastate and interstate commerce when the vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more, or is of any size transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.

| Tires | Studded tires - No tire may have any block, stud, flange, cleat, spike or any other protuberance of any material other than rubber projecting beyond the tread surface of the tire. Exception: Studded tires are allowed from November 1 until April 15, provided that no vehicle moved on a highway, other than school buses, shall be equipped with studded tires which are operational with a recommended air pressure greater than 40 pounds per square inch. |
| Tire chains - Tire chains of reasonable proportions are allowed when required for safety because of snow, ice, or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to skid. |
