Mississippi has adopted Part 393 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), as amended.

Part 393 applies to commercial motor vehicles operated in intrastate commerce with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or vehicles transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials

First Aid Kit	No requirements
Mudflaps	Commercial vehicles, including trailers and semitrailers, when gross loaded weight is more than 10 tons must be equipped with metal protectors or flexible flaps on the rear wheels to prevent the throwing of dirt, water, and other materials onto the windshields of following vehicles. The flaps or protectors must be at least as wide as the tires and have a maximum ground clearance of one-fifth the distance from the center of the rearmost axle to the center of the flaps. Pole trailers, dump trucks and trucks with “F” license tags are exempt from these requirements.
Tires	Studded Tires - No tire may have blocks, studs, flanges, cleats, spikes, or other protuberances of any material other than rubber projecting beyond the tread surface.
Tires	Tire Chains - Tire chains of reasonable size may be used on any vehicle when required for safety because of snow, ice, or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to skid.
