CMV parts and maintenance - Louisiana
Louisiana has adopted Part 393 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), revised as of January 1, 2021, and subsequent amendments.
Part 393 applies to all intrastate commercial motor vehicles with a single or combined gross vehicle weight or gross vehicle weight rating over 26,000 pounds, and all vehicles transporting hazardous materials.
| First Aid Kit | No requirements |
| Mudflaps | All vehicles (except those exempt from registration, those vehicles having an unladen weight of less than 1,500 pounds, or any trucks or farm vehicles handling and hauling agricultural and/or forest products) must be equipped with fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splashguards which effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud or loose material on the highways to the rear of the vehicle, unless the body of the vehicle or its attachments provide this protection. The fenders, covers, or other devices must be at least the width of the vehicle's tires. |
| Tires | Tire Chains - Tire chains of reasonable size may be used on any vehicle when required for safety because of conditions tending to cause a vehicle to slide or skid. |
