Arizona has adopted Part 393 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), revised as of October 1, 2023 (and no later amendments or editions).
Part 393 applies to a single motor vehicle or combination of motor vehicles which has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or gross weight of 26,001 pounds or more, and vehicles hauling hazardous materials in an amount required to be placarded.

| Tires | Studded Tires - No tire may have blocks, studs, flanges, cleats, spikes, or other protuberances of any material other than rubber projecting beyond the tread surface. Exception: Pneumatic tires with studs may be used between October 1 and May 1, if the metal in contact with the roadway never exceeds 3 percent of the total tire area. |
| Tire Chains - Tire chains of reasonable size may be used for safety when snow, ice, or other conditions tending to cause skidding to exist. |
