Wyoming has adopted Part 393 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs).
The adoption includes regulations dealing with projecting loads (393.87) and cargo securement (Part 393, Subpart I).
Part 393 applies to vehicles operating intrastate with a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 26,001 pounds or more, or transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placarding.
In Wyoming, no vehicle may be driven or moved on any highway unless the vehicle is constructed or loaded to prevent any of its load from dropping, sifting, leaking, or otherwise escaping.
Except in highway construction or repair, anyone who drops, or permits to be dropped or thrown, on a highway any material must immediately remove the material or cause it to be removed.
This requirement does not apply to the necessary spreading of any substance for highway maintenance or construction operations.
