Can some drivers get a 24-hour “restart”?

Yes. Drivers for certain industries (groundwater well drilling, construction, etc.) can reset their 60- or 70-hour periods by taking just 24 hours off duty, instead of the 34 hours required for most other drivers of property-carrying vehicles. Drivers wishing to take advantage of a 24-hour restart option must follow the guidelines in 395.1, taking note of any applicable definitions in 395.2.
