Motor carriers wishing to purchase bulk fuel for storage in Rhode Island to use in their vehicles operating interstate may do so without having a special license. Carriers purchasing fuel for their own use must purchase the fuel tax-paid and can report it as tax paid purchases on the quarterly IFTA tax returns only as it is used in the vehicles.
